English Theatre "Rob and the Hoodies"
My class and I went to see the play 'Rob and the Hoodies'. The story revolves around the main character, Rob, who must deal with the challenges of school life and stand up to local bullies, too. After class, Rob waits for people to come to the audition for the new play he is directing. He convinces three other students—a girl and two boys—to take part in his play. They begin rehearsing, but the girl, Marianne, disagrees with her role and some scenes. Rob decides to give everyone time over the weekend to think about the play.
After some time Rob starts doubting the heroism of Robin Hood, because he realizes that stealing—even for a good cause—is still theft. This theme comes up in his struggle with the Hoodies, who are demanding money from him. Marianne devises a plan to outsmart the Hoodies, and also uses her her martial arts skills and the support of Rob’s friends, John and Will. At the end they manage to outmaneuver the bullies. The play is about the importance of standing up for what’s right and supporting each other against injustice. We liked the play, because we thought it was funny and entertaining. I can recommend it to a young audience.
