September 8 - September 19, 2013

We, 6A and 6C and our teachers Prof. Kamauf and Prof. Varga,  have just returned from our trip to Edinburgh, Scotland.

Apart from attending the Randolph School of English in the mornings, we had an interesting programme in the afternoons and evenings. Here is a list of some activities we did during our 12-day stay:

  • Treasure hunt
  • Walk along the Water Leith to the Modern Art Gallery
  • Visit to various historic places:
  • Edinburgh Castle
  • Holyrood Palace
  • The Georgian House (an example of an 18th century house)
  • The National Museum of Scotland and the National Gallery
  • Underground tour of the Real Mary King's Close
  • Hike up the Salisbury Craigs with an amazing view of the city
  • Day trip to Stirling Castle, including a visit to Hamish, the famous Scottish Highland cow, and a boat tour on Loch Lomond

We enjoyed a Scottish evening of singing and dancing called “Ceilidh“ and went on a Ghost Tour along the haunted streets of the city. We also spent an evening at the cinema and at a bowling alley.

Our host families were very friendly and some even served us traditional Scottish food ... which some of us found very interesting.

All in all, we really had a blast! Also have a look at our photos and comments!

The trip to Edinburgh was fantastic because we had a lot of fun and we learned a lot about Scottish culture and famous Scottish people. Jakob, 6A

If I could, I would immediately return to Edinburgh. I wouldn't change anything about the trip because it was great fun and a really good experience. Laura, 6A

Edinburgh is such an amazing city! Our host family was really friendly and open; the people in Scotland are very welcoming. Miriam and Julia, 6A

I never thought that I would say this in my life but I was happy about going to school in Edinburgh. The teachers' lessons were packed with fun activities and they gave us a lot of information about Scotland. Andreas, 6A

Our journey to Edinburgh was a perfect start for this school year. I really enjoyed the trip, especially the fact that we stayed in host families. Lena, 6C

I’m very glad I joined the trip to Edinburgh; otherwise I would never have discovered the beauty and history of Edinburgh. We went there to improve our English but also to meet new people and to get to know their culture and their traditions. All in all, Edinburgh was a great experience for all of us! Anica, 6C

The trip to Edinburgh was an experience that I will never forget or regret. I enjoyed our afternoon activities and excursions, but also our evening programme, like the Ghost Tour or the cinema. In my opinion, we had a really good time in Scotland and if I had the chance to go there again I would! Michelle, 6C
